Richard Mille’s latest release, the RM 21-01 Tourbillon Aerodyne, is a timepiece that showcases the brand’s dedication to creating watches that are both visually striking and technologically advanced. Inspired by the world of aeronautics, the RM 21-01 combines the luxurious look of 5N red gold with the technical appeal of Carbon TPT, a lightweight and high-strength material that forms a cage-like exoskeleton around the gold. The baseplate, made from the engineered HAYNES 214 alloy, adds a pop of color to the watch with its PVD royal blue honeycomb structure.
The HAYNES 214 alloy, which is used in combustion chambers due to its ability to withstand temperatures of up to 995°C, adds strength and durability to the RM 21-01. It is a stiff material with low thermal expansion and high resistance to torque, making it an ideal choice for the baseplate of this watch. The use of grade 5 titanium for the bridges adds to the overall lightweight design of the RM 21-01, ensuring that it is comfortable to wear on the wrist.
In addition to the tourbillon mechanism, the RM 21-01 also includes several useful complications. The power-reserve indicator
at the 11 o’clock position allows the wearer to easily keep track of the remaining power in the watch, while the torque indicator at the one o’clock position helps to ensure that the movement is functioning properly. The function selector at the 4 o’clock position allows the wearer to easily switch between the different modes of the watch, including time-setting, winding, and neutral.
The RM 21-01 Tourbillon Aerodyne is a limited edition timepiece, with only 50 pieces available. Its unique combination of materials and advanced technologies make it a highly desirable watch for collectors and connoisseurs of fine timepieces. Its impressive wrist presence and lightweight design make it a pleasure to wear, while its technological features ensure that it is a reliable and accurate timekeeper.
